Sonya is a graduate of Drexel University with a BS in Dance and is currently pursuing her MA in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling at Drexel as well. Sonya has been dancing since the age of three, learning various styles such as ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, and hip-hop. Her love for dancing took her towards a love of the human body and ultimately a love for the world of Pilates during her undergraduate dance studies at Drexel. Sonya went through the 450-hour Drexel Pilates training program in order to obtain her certification to teach Pilates. Sonya feels that practicing Pilates is a great way to find the connection of the body and mind, to focus on breathing while moving, and to utilize even the smallest muscles in a big way. Sonya is certified to teach on all Pilates equipment in classes and private lessons.

Full-time Physical Therapy graduate student at Drexel University (2nd year) and part-time dance teacher.

Ms. François obtained a Bachelor of Science in dance with a concentration in physical therapy at Drexel University in June 2014. Her background includes over 2 years of experience in professional dancing with Danse4Nia, a Philadelphia based touring dance company. While dancing Michele went through many injuries, 3 knee surgeries, which encouraged her to incorporate Pilates in her life. Pilates helped her through her pain and build her strength. Ms. François studied Pilates training under Jennifer Morley at Drexel University.  Pilates helped her find freedom from all her dance pains and also find new and improved strength especially in dance. But Pilates also helped her in daily comfort and confidence. Along with being a student, professional dancer, and Pilates instructor she also finds love in teaching dance and movement classes as well as staging shows, like the Nutcracker annually at the Wissahickon Dance academy.
Ms. François has been focusing on teaching movement as a source of strength, discovery and communication. “Change happens through movement and movement heals”- Joseph Pilates. In her Pilates classes you will work on balancing the body, mind, and soul, all while having fun. “It's the mind itself which shapes the body.”-Joseph Pilates.

​​JEanna Vanni

Jeanna began her career as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and worked as a Personal Trainer and group fitness instructor at a local healthclub. It was during this time that she was invited to become certified to teach Pilates. Jeanna first was certified through PHI Pilates Mat and Reformer. Jeanna fell in love with the Pilates Method and the consistent results it gave to her various clientele. She went on to further her study of Pilates at Body Precision Inc. in Rosemont, PA, completing their comprehensive Teacher Program (over 725 teacher-training hours). Jeanna founded The Pilates Connexion in 2011 with a mission to share her passion of Pilates with the community. Jeanna's business goal is to provide the best Classical Pilates she can through not only her education and experience, but through hiring the most highly skilled and enthusiastic teachers to represent her studio and beliefs. Jeanna brings her background of personal training, athletics and gymnastics to her teaching and thrives from the benefits Pilates provides for all body types.

Jeanna also holds a special certification through the Pink Ribbon Program which enables her to work with Post-Operative Breast Cancer survivors. Jeanna helps women regain their confidence and range of motion to the affected area 6-8 weeks post-op.

Jeanna resides in Swarthmore with her husband and 3 children and boasts that Pilates kept her in shape throughout all three pregnancies and is by far the best workout to get back to pre-pregnancy shape.
